About the campaign
Zionism Is Not Racism is an independent campaign by supporters of the British way of life, British values and in defence of democracy, not affiliated with any party. It was set up after the Green Party of England and Wales passed Motion A105, "Zionism is Racism", on 4 October 2026. It asks the public to email, call and write to the Green Party and its councillors until the motion is repealed. Every email is written and sent by the visitor from their own account; the site stores no personal data about them.
The campaign began by asking supporters to email the party's head office. It now asks every Green councillor to sign a short pledge, that Zionism is not racism and that they do not support Motion A105, and it names on a public page every councillor who signs or who leaves the party over the motion. Supporters' emails go to the party with a dozen councillors in copy, asking them to sign.
Councillors and MPs of every other party in England and Wales are asked to put their names to one sentence: "Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its 'Zionism is Racism' motion." They sign in with their council or parliamentary email address, and each one who agrees to be named is listed with their party, seat and own words.
All the information on the site about the Green Party, its councillors and its local parties, including names, wards, contact details and photographs, was taken from public websites.
Who is behind it
One person. The site was made, and is run, by a British Jew, born in London and now living in the East Midlands, who has a full-time job and describes fighting antisemitism as a full-time hobby. It is run as an individual, with no financial backing of any sort.
No organisation is behind it. Many Jewish communal organisations have been made aware of it and asked to share it; none runs it, funds it or has a say in it. It is not a party, a charity or a company, and it takes no donations.
The organiser answers press enquiries personally, through the contact form. The full account, with a dated record of how the campaign grew and what it costs, is at Who made this site.
The facts in brief
- What: Motion A105, "Zionism is Racism", a policy motion of the Green Party of England and Wales conference, proposed by Lubna Speitan.
- When: passed on 4 October 2026.
- Who backed it: 46 sitting Green councillors appear in the motion's printed lists of supporters: the spring 2026 version (A105) and the autumn 2026 version (E02) that passed, both kept on this site as issued. Names, councils and wards, each saying which list.
- Who has signed the pledge: 8 Green councillors are on the record, 5 by signing (5 every line) and 2 by leaving the party over the motion. Names, wards and what each pledged.
- Who has endorsed it, across the parties: 313 councillors and MPs of other parties (309 councillors, 4 MPs): Conservative 104, Reform UK 93, Labour 46, Liberal Democrat 46, Independent 12, Local / Residents party 9, SDP 2, Restore Britain 1. Names and their own words.
- The party's MPs: four of the Green Party's five MPs, Ellie Chowns, Sian Berry, Adrian Ramsay and Carla Denyer, have publicly rejected the motion.
- What it says:
- Declares the Green Party "an anti-Zionist party": a mainstream British party formally opposed to the core belief of most British Jews.
- Supports "a single democratic Palestinian State in all of historic Palestine", which means the end of Israel as a state. That rejects the two-state solution backed by the UN, the UK, the EU, the Arab League and the Palestinian Authority.
- Affirms Palestinian "struggle ... by all available means" and, in its own briefing paper, spells that out as "including armed struggle".
- Orders that Zionism "be treated as any other form of racism" by the party's Anti-Racism Policy Working Group: Jewish members who believe Israel should exist are to be handled as racists.
- Calls Marwan Barghouti, convicted of five murders, merely a "prisoner of conscience".
- Supports a proscribed terrorist organisation: it calls for Palestine Action, banned by Parliament under the Terrorism Act 2000, to be taken off the list.
- Argues in its briefing paper that the word "antisemitism" is a "misnomer" that should be dropped, and that the definitions used by the UK Government and most councils are "weaponry".
The councillors' pledge
A Green councillor or MP signs in with their council email and ticks the lines they agree with. One line is enough to sign; both make the full pledge. They then say whether they intend to stay in the Party to fight the motion or to resign from it. The pledge reads:
- I do not support Motion A105. Zionism is not racism. Zionism is not a term that can be redefined to suit a position. Zionism is simply the belief that Jewish people, like the French, the Irish or the Palestinians, have the right to a homeland of their own. Is that racist? No.
- I will treat antisemitism as racism. I will report it through the same channels as any other racism. I will represent Jewish residents of my ward as fully as anyone else.
- I intend to stay in the Party to fight Motion A105.
- I intend to resign from the Party due to Motion A105.
Every councillor who signs is named with their ward, council and date, and what they pledged, at zionismisnotracism.co.uk/pledge. A councillor who resigns from the party over the motion can record that on the same page, or send the party a resignation email from it. 8 are on the record so far.
Councillors and MPs of every party
Councillors and MPs of every party but the Greens (who have their own pledge) sign in with their official email address and put their names to:
Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its "Zionism is Racism" motion.
313 have so far: 309 councillors and 4 MPs; Conservative 104, Reform UK 93, Labour 46, Liberal Democrat 46, Independent 12, Local / Residents party 9, SDP 2, Restore Britain 1. 1 asked not to be named, and are counted but not listed.

- Neil Coyle MP, Labour, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, signed 12 October 2026
- Bob Blackman MP, Conservative, MP for Harrow East, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is the legitimate aim of the world's Jewish population to seek a homeland in the traditional land of Israel.
- Greg Smith MP, Conservative, MP for Mid Buckinghamshire, signed 12 October 2026
The takeover of the Green Party by the anti-Israel hate mob is staggering to behold. Their conference voted to declare Zionism 'racism'. Zionism is the legitimate belief that Jews, like any other people, have the right to national self-determination. To label that racist sends a profoundly ugly and troubling message to Britain's Jewish community.
- Cllr Michael Rubinstein, Labour, Pilkington Park, Bury, signed 13 October 2026
Happy to belong to a political party which has dealt with its Antisemitism years ago (with a little help from me, I'm proud to say) and which has condemned the disgraceful Antisemitic Green Party Motion.
- Cllr Alan Avis, Liberal Democrat, Ewell Village, Stoneleigh & Nonsuch, East Surrey, signed 13 October 2026
- Cllr Victoria Sena, Conservative, Shere, West Surrey, signed 13 October 2026
I stand with the Jewish community and support the protection of their rights and identity. It is deeply concerning that such a statement is even necessary, and I urge political parties to reflect on the impact their words have on minority communities.
- Cllr Judith Lubbock, Liberal Democrat, Eaton, Norwich, signed 13 October 2026
- Cllr Dave Rowan, Reform UK, Colne Valley West, Kirklees, signed 13 October 2026
Hi, I stand with Israel, and the divide the left are creating in all our life’s is getting intolerable. Freedom of speech is eroding. The Jewish community are suffering in communities around the UK whilst the government and the lefty Liberals watch on, when the Jewish community who have lived among us for generations have caused no harm and asked for nothing. God be with you all and I will stand by your side. Regards Cllr Dave Rowan
- Cllr Andrew Scarth, Liberal Democrat, Oxhey Hall and Hayling, Three Rivers, signed 13 October 2026
We live in a multicultural and multi faith community, I am proud to be a member of this community. The motion passed by the Green pary attendees is to be regretted and challenged.

- Cllr James Wright, Reform UK, Winlaton and High Spen, Gateshead, signed 13 October 2026
I firmly believe that Zionism is not racism, but rather the fundamental expression of the Jewish people’s right to self-determination in their historic homeland. The Green Party’s recent conference vote to declare Zionism as racism is deeply divisive, alienates Jewish communities, and undermines the path toward a peaceful, negotiated two-state solution. I call on the Green Party leadership to listen to its own MPs, reverse this counterproductive motion, and return the party’s focus to environmental and social progress

I believe the Jewish people have the same right to a homeland, security and self-determination as any other people. I stand firmly against antisemitism, racism and discrimination in all their forms. - Cllr Shaun Edge, Labour, Crawcrook and Greenside, Gateshead, signed 13 October 2026
I stand firmly with Gateshead’s Jewish community, one of the most established Orthodox Jewish communities in Britain, with a proud history stretching back over a century. But supporting our Jewish neighbours and standing up for Palestinian rights are not mutually exclusive. I believe firmly in a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace, security and dignity.

- Cllr Heidi Wildhirt, Reform UK, Cleadon Park & Harton Moor, South Tyneside, signed 13 October 2026
It is frightening to see Jewish people’s right to national self determination questioned and dismissed, less than a century after the Holocaust. Jewish people, like every people, deserve the same right to live in safety and determine their future. I find it deeply troubling that any political party should have to debate a motion that treats Zionism as inherently racist. I cannot understand how anyone could remain a member, let alone represent, a party that gives such a motion legitimacy. I stand firmly against antisemitism and in support of Jewish people’s right to a homeland.
- Cllr Ross Irving, Conservative, Meir Hay North, Parkhall and Weston Coyney, Stoke-on-Trent, signed 13 October 2026
- Cllr Philip Lashbrook, Conservative, Bellinger, Test Valley, signed 13 October 2026
Those who label other as racist are in fact racist.
- Cllr Shaun Barclay, Reform UK, Harton, South Tyneside, signed 13 October 2026
I oppose racism in all its forms, i oppose antisemitism, and i support the rights and dignity of both Jewish and Palestinian people. Human rights should never be a competition, and standing up for one community should never require denying the rights of another. I oppose the Green Parties motion when they say Zionism is racism.
- Cllr Jonathan Bibb, Conservative, Councillor Jonathan BibbConservative Details, East Riding of Yorkshire, signed 13 October 2026
I will always stand with our Jewish community against this racist attack from the Green Party.
- Cllr Bob Hughes, Conservative, Shere, West Surrey, signed 13 October 2026
Anyone who believes in equality should support the State of Israel. It has been repeatedly and very often daily attacked by its neighbours and terrorists groups on all sides. Their murderous attacks should not be rewarded with support for a caused backed by so may antisemites.
- Cllr Sean McMaster, Conservative, Councillor Sean McMasterConservative Details, East Riding of Yorkshire, signed 13 October 2026
The motion that was passed at the Green Party at their annual conference is a disgrace. How a supposed 'mainstream' political party has been allowed to pass such a dispicable motion is beyond belief. Zionism is NOT racism and I stand firmly in support of our Jewish communities and with the state of Israel and its right to exist.
- Cllr Dan Marr, Conservative, Davenham, Moulton and Kingsmead, Cheshire West and Chester, signed 13 October 2026
- Cllr Kris Brown, Liberal Democrat, Gateacre, Liverpool, signed 13 October 2026
- Cllr Matthew Jones, Independent, Kidderminster - St Johns, Worcestershire, signed 13 October 2026
Here we go again… Another CrAzY decision from the Green Party. Just when you think political common sense might prevail, along comes another statement that leaves you shaking your head. My Wife’s uncle is Jewish, so this is personal to me and my family. I firmly believe Jewish people deserve the same rights and respect as everyone else. Antisemitism has absolutely no place in our world, regardless of which party it comes from.
- Cllr Dr Martin Cahn, Liberal Democrat, Histon & Impington, South Cambridgeshire, signed 13 October 2026
Defining Zionism as racism denies the Jewish people their basic right to self-determination and misrepresents a key part of Jewish identity. Zionism is the same as Polishness or Britishness yet no party would ever vote that either of them means racism.

The recent sudden increase in antisemitism in Britain is, to say the least, alarming. The attempts by a rag-tag alliance of Left-wing organisations to rewrite history by denying the known facts of the Holocaust and equating Jews with the Nazis is a disgrace and an affront to humanity.
- Cllr Alan Leaman, Liberal Democrat, Sevenoaks Northern, Sevenoaks, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Roger Crouch, Liberal Democrat, Isleworth, Hounslow, signed 12 October 2026
The motion does nothing to tackle rising antisemitism and Islamophobia in this country. As a Holocaust educator, this scares me.
- Cllr Brett Rosehill, Reform UK, Aldenham East, Hertsmere, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is the belief in Jewish self-determination in our ancestral homeland. It is part of my Jewish identity, and I will neither apologise for it nor allow others to define it for me. Proud Jew. Proud Zionist. No apologies. 🇮🇱

You can stand with Palestinians and fiercely criticise Israel without declaring Zionism inherently racist. By doing so, the Greens risk legitimising antisemitic ideas and discriminatory treatment. The liberal alternative is clear: equal rights, security and self-determination for Jews and Palestinians.

I was very saddened and dismayed by the Green Party conference vote to endorse this motion. It is divisive and harmful to community cohesion. A number of prominent Green politicians, councillors and former Green Party leaders warned against going in this direction. The conference should have heeded their advice.
- Cllr Phil North, Conservative, Bourne Valley, Test Valley, signed 12 October 2026

I strongly disagree with motion passed by the Green Party. There is no evidence to back it. Israel is a country not only for Jewish people, but there Christians, Arabs, Muslims all living together. How can you call Zionists racists? Polanski is the leader of the party, and while he didn't vote he clearly doesn't have control of his party and should resign.

Just to say I fully support your pledge and condemn the Green Party for the motion they passed at their conference. I was a member of the Green Party for 30 years and sat as a councillor for them 2000-2007, as well as a Parliamentary candidate in 2010. I left the party in 2016 because of the rising antisemitism in the party, after being active in a group called GreensAgainstAntisemitism. The Jew hate in the Green Party is now beyond anything in my worse nightmares. [They] are an openly antisemitic party, on a par with groups like the NF in the past.
- Cllr Simon Eardley, Conservative, Saughall and Mollington, Cheshire West and Chester, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is the right to Jewish self-determination in their ancestral homeland. The Green Party, in passing its “Zionism is racism” motion, shames them in the most despicable way, effectively siding them with the ideology of extremists like Hamas. This extreme and racist motion has no place in British politics. I’m proud to be a Zionist. The people of Israel live. #AmYisraelChai 🇮🇱

It is sad to see the Green Party taken over by people who don't care for its historic values or for British values of tolerance and respect. I hope we can all work for peace in the region and reject the extremists, like those in the Green Party, who are making excuses for war.

I stand with the Jewish people that Zionism is not racism. Contrary to what is said about Reform UK, we are against any type of racism and will not tolerate it in any form. What we are against is illegal immigration and how that disadvantages all British people, whatever race they originate from.

The Jewish people have the same right to self determination, security and a homeland as any other people. To label that belief as racism is wrong, divisive and risks fuelling antisemitism. We should be bringing communities together, not creating further division.

I stand with our great Jewish friends. I support Israel.
- Cllr Duane Farr, Reform UK, Kinson, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, signed 12 October 2026
I am concerned about this motion as it is divisive, singling out Jewish people who believe in their right to a homeland.
- Cllr Louise Blackman, Reform UK, Perranporth, Cornwall, signed 12 October 2026
I believe Zionism, understood as support for Jewish self-determination in Israel, is not a racist ideology, while recognizing that reasonable people disagree and that Israeli government policies may be criticized like those of any other state.
- Cllr James Valentine, Labour, Kempston West, Bedford, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Martyn Punyer, Conservative, Armitage with Handsacre, Lichfield, signed 12 October 2026
I wholeheartedly condemn the Green Party's adoption of the "Zionism is Racism" motion policy. It is an afront to the Jewish people and to all who believe that Jews have the right to live in peace.

The Greens have adopted a policy which incites hatred against Jewish people following a majority of their party voting to declare “Zionism is racism”. It is clear that Islamic extremists and their sympathisers have captured the Green party. Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain, Just Stop Oil, Palestine Action, The Green Party - Each time they regroup under a new name they get more extreme and brazen with their antisemitic goals. Zack Polanski is a traitorous coward.
- Cllr Eric Buckmaster, Conservative, Sawbridgeworth, East Hertfordshire, signed 12 October 2026
The motion of the Green Party at their national conference is abhorrent and dangerous and does nothing to build harmony among communities. They must reverse this policy.
- Cllr Peter Boylan, Conservative, Great Amwell and Stansteads, East Hertfordshire, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Geoff Pearl, Liberal Democrat, Eccleston, St. Helens, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is not racist. Zionism is the right of Jewish people to live in their on Homeland Israel. I would accuse the Green Party of antisemitism. They have never condemned Hamas of the atrocities they carried out on 7th October 2023 before and since. They have never condemned the atrocities carried out by Palestinians through out the years or their pay to slay policy.

I am progressing a White paper in council in November stating that Zionism is not racism.
- Cllr Marc Amron, Local / Residents party, Bushey Park, Hertsmere, signed 12 October 2026
As a Hertsmere councillor and a proud British Jew,I call on the Green Party to reverse its deeply offensive motion equating Zionism with racism.Zionism is the belief that Jews, like other peoples, have the right to self determination in their ancestral homeland. Denying Jews that right, while upholding it for others is a glaring double standard. Criticising Israel’s government is legitimate; demonising Jewish national self-determination is not. At a time of rising antisemitism, the Green Party must recognise the gravity of its language. Equality must mean equality for Jews too.
- Cllr Charlene Maines, Independent, Rowlands Castle, East Hampshire, signed 12 October 2026
I stand with our Jewish Community Cllr Charlene Maines

- Cllr Jonathan Close, Reform UK, Euxton, Chorley, signed 12 October 2026
I was absolutely appalled by this motion. The Green Party leadership is a disgrace and has badly let down their members and supporters. Most of whom are honest, decent people who just want to make this world a better place, hold no ill feeling towards the Jewish community, and are equally appalled by this. They must reverse this motion and apologise immediately to preserve any lingering credibility or respect for their party and membership.

- Cllr Kelly Duddridge, Labour, Victoria, North Northamptonshire, signed 12 October 2026
I have always supported the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine to find a peaceful way forward. I do not believe that Jewish communities living in the UK should be subject to condemnation or viewed as racist simply for supporting Israel’s right to exist. Criticising the Israeli Government's policies is not antisemitic, and neither is calling out Israel's actions in Gaza and the West bank. You can be pro-two state solution and still call these actions out. The Green motion implies otherwise. I do not support othering of whole communities based on the actions of Israel's Government.
- Cllr Bill Williams, Labour, Champion Hill, Southwark, signed 12 October 2026
Jewish self-determination is a right. Declaring it racist is an attack on Jews. The Green party has chosen to brand Jews who hold this belief as racists and make their equal participation in the party conditional on renouncing it. This is without doubt the most antisemitic and racist motion brought before a mainstream political party in my lifetime. It is Corbynism on steroids.

We cannot equivocate on racism. We cannot pick and choose which types of racism we oppose. You can absolutely oppose the Netanyahu Government, stand against illegal West Bank settlements and be appalled by the loss of life and destruction in Gaza, and still believe that Israel has the right to exist, and that Jews have the right to self-determination.
- Cllr Eileen Fleming, Reform UK, Blackbrook, St. Helens, signed 12 October 2026
For me, Zionism isn't racism. I see it as the belief that Jewish people, like any other people, have the right to self-determination and a homeland. I don't see that as being about racial superiority or discrimination. I believe it's entirely possible to support Jewish self-determination while also supporting equality, human rights and respect for people of all backgrounds and communities.
- Cllr Ian Lewis, Conservative, Wallasey, Wirral, signed 12 October 2026
I am appalled that a party which seeks to govern our country believes it acceptable to support the eradication of the state of Israel. The Green Party has been taken over by the worst excesses of those who joined Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.
- Cllr Pam McCabe, Reform UK, The Homesteads & Stanford Le Hope North, Thurrock, signed 12 October 2026
It is imperitive that the Green party change their attitudes towards the Jewish community. The Jewish should be allowed to live a peaceful life without threats of any kind.
- Cllr Elizabeth Wright, Reform UK, Raunds, North Northamptonshire, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is not racism. Supporting the Jewish people’s right to self-determination does not mean endorsing every action of the Israeli government or denying Palestinian rights. We can stand for the rights, dignity and safety of both peoples. I call on the Green Party to reverse this motion and choose language that encourages understanding rather than division.

- Cllr George William Buckley, Conservative, Airedale, Bradford, signed 12 October 2026
I believe local councillors should stick to local politics, but following the horrific motion passed at the Green Party Conference I have a duty to stand up for the Jewish residents of my community. I can't stand by and watch Green party activists divide people in my community based on which religion somebody believes or whether they think that the Jewish state has a right to exist. That's real racism!
- Cllr Saul Jacob, Reform UK, Borehamwood South, Hertfordshire, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is the belief in the Jewish people's right to self-determination in their historic homeland. Supporting that right is not of course racism. You can criticise Governments' as we all do from time to time, and that can of course include the Israeli govt. As a Jew and Councillor, I find it deeply upsetting to see Zionism equated to racism. The Green Party and its members have successfully singled out one particular group, one people, to become a target for antisemites. I call upon the Green Party to reverse this motion.
- Cllr Hugh Malyan, Labour, Weston-super-Mare South Worle, North Somerset, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is the aspiration for a national homeland. To call it racism is a perversion.
- Cllr Graham Clack, Conservative, Dunton Green & Riverhead, Sevenoaks, signed 12 October 2026
This was a disgraceful decision by the Greens and must be reversed - or they should be the pariahs of the political world.
- Cllr Wayne Dixon, SDP, Middleton Park, Leeds, signed 12 October 2026
I think we all know that the problem isn’t Israel’s existence, it’s the fact that a Terrorist organisation runs Palestine. The Israeli Government is run by people who have no thought for a two state solution and are quite frankly acting as bad has Hamas. A one state solution either way will simply cause different problems.
- Cllr Vinnie Whitrow, Reform UK, Hatton Park, North Northamptonshire, signed 12 October 2026
I believe that Zionism is not racism, and I therefore call on the Green Party to reverse its "Zionism is Racism" motion. Equating Zionism with racism risks misrepresenting the beliefs of many Jewish people and undermines informed and balanced discussion on this complex issue.

- Cllr Conrad Hart-Brooke, Liberal Democrat, Rothwell, Leeds, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Amor Albert, Reform UK, Longford, Coventry, signed 12 October 2026
I strongly oppose antisemitism, racism and discrimination in all forms. Zionism should not automatically be characterised as racism, just as Palestinian rights to dignity and self-determination must be respected. I reject the Green Party's blanket declaration and call for its reconsideration. As an elected Coventry City Councillor, I have a responsibility to represent all communities fairly, challenge prejudice wherever it arises, defend freedom of expression and promote mutual respect, equality and community cohesion above political division.
- Cllr Rachel Carnac, Conservative, Reculver, Canterbury, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Dr Shabina Qayyum, Labour, East, Peterborough, signed 12 October 2026
As the leader of a council, I always want to bring people together. I too bleed for Palestinian children.I am deeply concerned about the potential of this motion to divide our communities further, make Jewish residents feel unsafe and lead to horrific repercussion and consequence on Palestinians after seeing the destruction in Gaza. This does not mean at all that any political party has the right to take ownership over a Jewish community, or residents belief to be aligned with their place of worship a homeland Or to be placed at risk or in Jeopardy here in this country.

- Cllr Robert Mayall, Reform UK, Sevenoaks Rural South, Kent, signed 12 October 2026
I would find it a little less hypocritical of those protesting against Israel if they also campaigned against Iran killing its own people of the People's Republic of China putting Muslims in concentration camps. Is it because Jews aren't involved?

- Cllr Dawn Gamble, Liberal Democrat, Verulam, St Albans, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Glen Saffery, Liberal Democrat, Woodside, Watford, signed 12 October 2026
The belief in a Jewish state is clearly not an inherently racist belief. It is an essential component of the two-state solution long supported by the vast majority of the international community, the British Government and my party. I believe the two state solution is the only path to long-term security and dignity for the Israeli and Palestinian people. Regardless of appalling and racist provocations from extreme elements on both sides of this conflict, including members of the current Israeli government, we should reject such sentiments unequivocally.

Normally I stick to local politics in a Councillor capacity, but following the Green party's disgraceful motion passed at their party conference, many Jewish residents are quite rightly concerned that even turning up to a synagogue that believes in the right for Israel to exist would see them labelled as racist by a supposedly mainstream political party. I can't stand by and watch Green party activists and some of their leaders divide people in my community based on which religion somebody believes or whether they think that the Jewish state has a right to exist. That's real racism!
- Cllr Roger Baldwin, Local / Residents party, Loughton Forest, Epping Forest, signed 12 October 2026

- Cllr Raph Cohn, Conservative, Airedale, Bradford, signed 12 October 2026
Last week was the worst week I can remember for British Jews. We are told we are racists because we believe in a nation-state. We have open celebration of the worst pogrom since the Second World War, when Jews and others were mutilated, raped to death and murdered simply because they exist. When evil boasted of its exploits. And then on Friday, when the antisemite Navi Pillay once the Nobel Peace Prize.

- Cllr Mark Perks, Reform UK, Chorley North and Astley, Chorley, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Richard Davies, Labour, Thames, Reading, signed 12 October 2026
As a Labour Councillor, I strongly believe political dialogue must be rooted in mutual respect, nuanced understanding, and constructive debate. Conflating Zionism - the movement for the self-determination of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland - with racism is inaccurate, divisive, and alienating to the Jewish community. While robust debate over state policies and actions in the region is essential in a healthy democracy, defining a foundational core of Jewish identity as inherently racist undermines effective dialogue and inclusion. I urge the Green Party to reverse its motion.
- Cllr David Page, Conservative, Market Harborough-Logan, Harborough, signed 12 October 2026
Zionism is not racist. It is the belief that Jewish people have the right to self-determination in their historic homeland. That right should be respected, not condemned. The Green Party has become a far-left, antisemitic party and members should be ashamed.

Croydon's only Synagogue is in my ward Shirley North. Many members of Croydon's Jewish community also live in my ward. Because of this I feel that it is very important to fight Antisemitism in all its forms. I'm also a Zionist and support Israel wholeheartedly. It's very worrying that the Greens have embraced this evil. I hope all Councillors will support this statement.

This is really simple. All Zionism means is the right of the Jewish people who have been subject to blood libels, discrimination, exclusion, expulsion, pogroms and mass murder throughout the centuries to a homeland of their own. The rights of other peoples to a state of their own is not considered racist so there is no rational reason why the right of the Jewish people to a homeland should be treated as such.

Religion is not racist, we should all learn to live together in peace.
- Cllr Rodney Berman, Liberal Democrat, Penylan, Cardiff, signed 12 October 2026
This approach wouldn't help us achieve peace which has to be our ultimate objective. We must continue to strive for a two-state solution.
- Cllr Simon Cordon, Liberal Democrat, Clapham Common and Abbeville, Lambeth, signed 12 October 2026
I condemn the loss of innocent life in this conflict, including the 1,195 Israelis who died on 7 October and the 73,000 people who have lost their lives in Gaza, including over 20,000 children. I condemn the actions of Hamas and of the current Israeli government. But criticism of a government must not be used to deny the Jewish people the same right to nationhood afforded to others. Zionism is a legitimate belief that Jews are entitled to national self-determination in their historic homeland. Both Palestinians and Jews have a right to live in peace through a negotiated two-state solution.

This show how little the Green understand as Zionism is primary a Juadism movement, but as it can have Christian Zionists too. The Greens are also showing why Zionism is needed as it start as Secluar movement again European Anti-Semitism.

I unequivocally oppose antisemitism and call on the Green Party to reverse its motion\. Jewish people, like all peoples, have the right to safety, dignity and self-determination. For many, Zionism expresses that right; it does not mean endorsing every Israeli government policy. I support Palestinian rights and the freedom of all oppressed peoples. These principles must apply equally. Criticism of Israel is legitimate, but must not become hostility towards Jews or deny them rights afforded to others.

- Cllr David Williams, Labour, Llanyrafon, Torfaen, signed 12 October 2026
The state of Israel has the right to exist, and the Palestinian people should have their own land with a right to self determination. Equating zionism with racism does not support either Israelis or Palestinians and is divisive when we need collaborative action.

I was horrified to see this motion passed at the Green Party conference. Poor judgement. For the purposes of this statement my definition of Zionism is the right of Israel to exist. Despite the dreadful Hamas led atrocities of October 7th, I'm deeply critical of the response of this Netayahu led government and appalled by the inhumanity of the situation that they have created in Gaza. I do not support expansionist Israeli settlers throwing Palestinians off their land. I support the right of Israel to exist and regard the two state solution as the only way forwards.

The way the Jewish community is being made to feel in this country is wholly unacceptable. The Britain I was born in and grew up in is a welcoming society. The current sectarian politics promoted by the Green Party is incredibly sad to see. Shameful!
- Cllr Shadman Zaman, Reform UK, Pilkington Park, Bury, signed 12 October 2026
Much of the British left now sends Jewish people the same message: you can be Jewish in this country, but you cannot be a Zionist. Zionism is simply the belief that the Jewish people have the right to a state of their own in their ancestral homeland, a shield to ensure the Holocaust can never happen again. As someone born in Bangladesh, a nation that won its own freedom in 1971, I see in Israel the same truth: an oppressed people can stand up, survive and build a home of their own. Zionism is not a dirty word. I am a proud Zionist, and I support this motion.
- Cllr Maria Jones, Reform UK, Preston Rural, Lancashire, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Ashley Joynes, Reform UK, Accrington South, Lancashire, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Graham Dalton, Reform UK, Lancaster Rural North, Lancashire, signed 12 October 2026
The Green Party must immediately retract its ‘Zionism is racism’ motion - it crosses from political critique into demonisation of Jewish identity, and it signals to extremists that violence against Jews can be morally justified.
- Cllr Simche Steinberger, Conservative, Springfield, Hackney, signed 12 October 2026
- Cllr Harvey Cohen, Conservative, Elstree, Hertsmere, signed 11 October 2026
A disgraceful and racist policy . The only Jewish state in the world and one in which people of all faiths and none can live together , achieve the highest level of education , government etc

- Cllr Nicole Ereira, Conservative, Mill Hill, Barnet, signed 11 October 2026
- Cllr Natalie Susman, Conservative, Shenley, Hertsmere, signed 11 October 2026

- Cllr John Wright, Conservative, Chaddesden East, Derby, signed 11 October 2026
We Conservatives are extremely concerned about this motion, and what this says to Jews in our community. For most British Jews, Zionism is not an extreme ideology. It is the simple belief that the Jewish people, after centuries of persecution which culminated in the Holocaust, should have a homeland where they are safe. It is part of their faith, their family history and their identity.

Nine days after the vote, the Green Party lifted the suspension of Mohammed Suleman, Newcastle city councillor for Arthur's Hill, suspended before May's elections for reposting a TikTok video that described Jews as "ungrateful, merciless, and without love". The Newcastle Green group said he "knows he has been in the wrong". His return makes the Greens the second-largest party on Newcastle City Council, with 24 councillors.
- 12 October 2026EventActivists behind the motion plot to have Caroline Lucas thrown out of the party (The Telegraph)
The Telegraph reported WhatsApp messages in which members of Greens for Palestine, the group behind the motion, shared advice on complaining to the party's disciplinary panel about Caroline Lucas, the party's first MP and twice its leader, who had called the motion "dangerous", "divisive" and "flawed from top to bottom". "Lucas needs to be removed," one wrote. A template letter of complaint has been created, the paper reported.

Quotes for use
Attributable to a spokesperson for the Zionism Is Not Racism campaign.
Green councillors now face a choice about their political future.
I am a Zionist, so the Green Party says I am a racist.
You can't be anti-racist and antisemitic. Zionism is anti-racism.
Zionism is not racism. It is the belief that Jews have a right to a homeland in their ancestral land, held by around nine in ten British Jews. A party that calls that belief racism has passed a verdict on a people, not on a government.
UK law recognises Jewish people as an ethnic group protected by the Equality Act 2010. The Equality and Human Rights Commission found in 2020 that treating Jews' identity as suspect is unlawful discrimination. The Green Party has written that into its own policy.
46 sitting Green councillors put their names to this motion. Their constituents are entitled to ask them whether they stand by it.
Any Green councillor can put their name to the pledge in a minute: Zionism is not racism, and the party got Motion A105 wrong. 8 councillors have gone on the record so far, by signing or by leaving the party. Four of the party's five MPs have already rejected the motion in public.
This is not one party against another. 313 councillors and MPs of every other party have now put their names to one sentence: "Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its 'Zionism is Racism' motion."
The letter supporters post
Printed from zionismisnotracism.co.uk/letter and posted, free, to Green Party head office at Freepost RJUC-HRKX-TGHG. Under the heading ""Zionism is NOT Racism": reverse Motion A105", it reads:
Dear Green Councillor,
Your "leader" failed.
He did not vote for Motion A105 on Zionism, but allowed the party to plunge itself into accusations of being racist. If you voted for Motion A105 yourself, you have singled out the Jews and that has legal ramifications.
The Equality Act 2010 protects Jewish people as an ethnic group; the Equality and Human Rights Commission's 2020 guidance says a party must not discriminate against, harass or victimise its members because of race, religion or belief.
Green councillors have a responsibility to uphold equality, challenge racism and protect the rights of every community. That responsibility must apply to Jewish people, too.
Zionism is not a term you can redefine to suit a position. It is simply the belief that Jewish people, like the French, the Irish or the Palestinians, have the right to a homeland of their own. Is that racist? No.
YOUR CHOICE: REVERSE THE MOTION OR RESIGN
The Association of Green Councillors should help members resolve this crisis, not lead them into a political and potentially legal disaster.
We are therefore asking every Green councillor to take a clear position:
PLEDGE to support the reversal of Motion A105.
DEMAND that the party obtain independent legal advice on the motion, its implications for Jewish members and communities, and for the Green Party itself.
RESIGN if you cannot support a party that takes meaningful action to address these concerns.
ZIONISM IS NOT RACISM. REVERSE MOTION A105.
Silence is not a solution. Nor is pretending that the issue will simply disappear.
Please pledge today to reverse Motion A105 and tell your colleagues this issue cannot be swept under the carpet, or resign.
Sincerely,
