Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its "Zionism is Racism" motion.
Councillors and MPs of every party in England and Wales are being asked to put their names to this one sentence. Not having signed it does not mean someone supports the Green Party's motion: they may simply not have been asked yet.

Who is David Shopland?
David Shopland is an Independent councillor for Clevedon East ward on North Somerset Council, in the South West.
Has Cllr David Shopland endorsed the campaign that Zionism is not racism?
Not yet. Councillors and MPs of every party in England and Wales are being asked to put their names to one sentence: "Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its "Zionism is Racism" motion." Not having signed it does not mean someone supports the Green Party's motion: they may not have been asked yet.
What is the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" motion?
On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that "Zionism is racism". It brands as racism the belief, held by around nine in ten British Jews, that the Jewish people have the right to a homeland of their own, and binds the party to treat that belief "as any other form of racism". Councillors and MPs of every other party are being asked to say, in public, that Zionism is not racism.
